Shorts, faux-leather shorts…

Hello Guys!

Today I’m gonna talk about one of my last project, I worked on a faux-leather short. I wanted one for a long time but since I sew I thought I could make one with my little hands and my machine.

First I found a pattern of a short in one of my book: “L’Encyclopedie de la couture Singer“. This book helps me a lot, there’s full explanations, pictures and schemes for lonely beginners like me. This Encyclopedia is very helpful.

The model I chose is very classical but I think we learn a lot doing this kind of work when you start sewing. Don’t you? I decided to make one in wool first. So I could try the model and be sure I got everything right and could manage the project with a fabric like faux-leather.

So here is my step by step picture story:

At the end of the assembly, even if I used the same size pattern for the wool short, this one was like 4 sizes up so I had to make big corrections. Maybe it is due to the rigidity of the fabric. The pockets are too stiff and the belt is still too big for my waist. I think for this kind of cloth I should have use a pattern specially designed. Well I’m not sure…

Although it ‘s not perfect it worth the try so I made some pictures so you can see the result! 🙂

What do you think of it?

Have a wonderful day dear readers!

Cheers my Dears!
