Blue, blue, blue: Monochrome outfit!

Posted on in Articles · Patterns · Self drafted patterns

Hello dear readers!

This week, I wanted to start a jumpsuit, and so I started directly to work on a pattern. I imagined it with good looking trousers. But it was kind of challenge for me because I have never made a pattern of trousers with darts and a classical look after all.

I already designed some joggings or large trousers with an elastic waist but the look I wanted for the jumpsuit is a little bit more technical. In the end, I decided to work on a classic pair of trousers before making this jumpsuit (I will work on that in the coming weeks).

So I followed the instructions of my favourite book from DP Studio and I have created a pattern. I had some remnants of teddy fabric so I decided to try the pattern on it. I will not show it here because even if it is comfortable the look was not exactly what I expected. But I took this opportunity to try to make modifications to the pattern. And I could not finish this pattern without trying to sew it again! So I remembered about a wonderful blue fabric that has been in my spares for a long time! And I thought it would be perfect for my new trousers! Here is the step by step:

In the end, looking at the trousers, I thought that it was really nice and there I decided that for once I would present you a complete style made by me! As I still had some of this blue fabric I thought I could make a monochrome outfit! This is very trendy at the moment!

The trousers are high waist, so perfect to wear with a cropped top! And again I worked on a new pattern! What a week my Dears! 😉 I wanted the top to be fitted but the fabric is not stretchy at all, so I had to think about a way of closing it, I opted to close it with buttons as I did for the wedding dress top. And I also made it reversible so it is more versatile! 🙂

It was very sunny this saturday so I went outside to take some pictures of the outit with Mathieu so you can see what it looks like :

I am quite happy with the result, I am not used at all to wear blue if it is not in jeans. But I like the look. If I had something to correct on it I would certainly modify the buttonhole on the trousers. I would make it horizontal instead of vertical as the waist is stretching it a little and making some unwanted pleats…  And I would also change the place of the straps for the top, I could make them crossed in the back or a little bit more centered. And you what do you think? Do you love it?

Enjoy your Sunday dear readers and take care!

Cheers my Dears!
